Size: Diameter approx. 18cm Height approx. 7cm

A small version of the popular octagonal plate.
It's the perfect size for a single main dish or breakfast plate.
It is long and horizontal, and can also be used to serve dried fish and condiments.

The octagonal plate is a versatile piece of tableware that is not only good looking but also easy to use.
It has a smart appearance that goes well with everyday side dishes.
Since it is a square plate, it does not create dead space on the dining table and is easy to store.
Since it is less angular than a square, you can use it without worrying about the corners and it doesn't look too stiff.

It is finished with a rust-colored glaze that gives it an antique look.
Sabi glaze is a glaze that tends to show differences in the finished product. It has a matte texture, but the edges, backs, and other areas that are well-fired have a greenish hue and a slight sheen.
In addition, since the wood has fine cracks, it has been treated to make it waterproof. Please refrain from using sealing treatments such as boiling it in rice water.

[About Furuya Ceramics]

Shigaraki ware kiln was founded in 1970 by Furuya Nobuo in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan.

Nobuo, a leading expert in Kohiki, creates soft Kohiki tableware by firing it twice at low temperatures, and the "white" of the ware is expressed as a simple and warm white. It gently envelops any food and goes well with other tableware.

Currently, his eldest son, Koichi, has inherited his skills and is at the center of this nationally popular pottery manufacturer, producing stylish yet rustic and easy-to-use tableware that matches lifestyles such as food culture and living spaces, with the theme of ``being close to people's lives.''
