[WAKAYAMA YOSHIHIRO]
A unique artist, he is a ceramic artist from Kyoto who has a studio and gallery in Seta, Shiga Prefecture, and also runs a gym as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. He held a solo exhibition in Bologna, Italy in 2018, and in Shanghai, China in 2019. It is because of this artist that we can understand the thoughts and dedication that are packed into CRAYPAPER.
Instead of using porcelain clay, which tends to make the pieces look like tiles, they use a unique blend of clay to give them a rustic look while maintaining their high strength.By combining the rustic look with a monotonous flat surface, they beautifully express the look of tableware and pottery.
Furthermore, achieving this look requires a very narrow range of glaze thickness for both the black and gold, which is still a struggle, and it is extremely difficult to fire the pieces flat. It takes many days to dry, and the temperature rise during the final firing also has a fairly gradual curve, so each piece is produced with great time and effort.
[Notes before purchase]
Each piece is made by hand. Therefore, not all pieces have the same shape or color, which is the texture and beauty of pottery. Please also understand that each piece has its own unique personality and expression, including cracks, small holes, and uneven glaze patterns that appear on the surface.
Therefore, please understand that even if the product is the same as the photo, there may be differences in the expression due to individual differences before placing your order. Also, please note that we cannot accept returns or exchanges for these reasons.
